NOT A HAIR OUT OF PLACE: CARL’S BARBER SHOP
Ok, I’m letting you in on the best barber shop I know—and not just in Copenhagen or even Denmark—we’re talking worldwide. They’ve got a major talent roster of guys—and girls—that barber to the bone! My guy, Simon Sommer, keeps me razor sharp. Gents, remember: what you wear starts with hair. And there’s no better place to take care of it than here.

THINK INK: TIGRE TATTOO PARLOUR
What better souvenir of fabulous Copenhagen than a new tattoo that commemorates you experience? Head straight to the crew at Tigre in an amazing downtown neighborhood. Stellar talent on the needle and they couldn’t be nicer, taking the time to talk and help you arrive a design you’ll love for life.

NEW NORDIC AT BARR
Nordic delights, now in the former Noma space. Crazy tasty—and a great introduction to the amazing things we’re seeing in Nordic food, without maxxing out your cards. The beer list is a major kick; snacks and shared plates atg the bar. Always packed with sexies—so be sure to reserve your table.

WORKING MAN’S LUNCH AT FLEISCH
Copenhagen’s Meat Packing District is home to Fleisch. The former butcher shop locale is now a forum for delicious, old-school-but-updated Danish lunches—think open-faced sandwiches (especially the famed roast beef) complete with pickles, pickled onions, fried onions and loads of horseradish. Yummy—but kiss me not!

COPENHAGEN MEETS KYOTO: SLURP RAMEN JOINT
Ramen with a nordic twist, kooky, but to die for. Service is chop-chop, so it’s a great option when I don’t have a ton of time. That said, the flavors are full and real; try the spicy miso ramen or a classic shoyu with chashu.

NO-JOKE JAVA: FORLOREN ESPRESSO
My favorite café whether it’s time for a laid-back cup with a buddy or a squeeze, cozy and right in the center of the city. Make note of the address—it’s easy to miss—but get ready for mind-blowing coffee prepared by no-joke baristas. Let go of your usual order and try one of the weekly espresso specials or another off-the-beaten-track menu item. You’re in good hands.

WORTH SLOGGING THE QUEUE: JUNO THE BAKERY
Weekends can mean lines, but that cardamon bun is well worth a chill. Top bakers run the joint; you’ll get the picture with every bite.

WARDROBE 19: FOR THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY GENT
I go crazy at W19. They do classic menswear but always with a contemporary approach. Fabulous instead of fancy, with everything from amazing handmade skull-rings to impeccable shirts, denim that fits plus sharp suits, bags, sunglasses and boots. No one leaves empty-handed.

GIRL POWER: PROJECT 4
A boutique inside Wardrobe 19, Project 4 showcases Scandinavia-inflected women’s accessories, separates and nerdy-sexy looks my women friends love. If I wore women’s clothes, I’d get them here, too!

ESSENTIAL DENMARK: ARKK
Do not leave the kingdom without a swing through ARKK, the Danish sneaker brand whose styles are like nothing else on the planet. This—the first Copenhagen store— is more like a sneaker museum, with models in minimalist lines and amazing colors.

GETG OUT THERE: STREETSCAPES AND GREENSPACES
Stroll from Ophelia Plads to Kastellet and see the “Little Mermaid” statue, of Hans Christian Andersen (and later Disney) fame. Ok, maybe Miss Fishtail is a little underwhelming, but the walk is marvelous and takes you through some of Copenhagen’s lovliest blocks. Walk the canals when you get as far as Christianshavn. That’s my favorite Copenhagen, right there!

Copenhagen’s cocktail culture is at a high and the places listed below are some of my very favorites. Hit all eight and I guarantee you’ll never want to leave.
